This weekend in Long Beach isn’t loud for the sake of being loud. It’s thoughtful. It’s embodied. It’s a mix of community care, creative expression, nervous-system regulation, and just enough spice to keep things interesting.

If you’re looking for something that feels intentional instead of performative, here’s what’s happening in Long Beach this weekend.

Sydney’s Soulful Soundbath

By Soulfully Sounded

Saturday, January 31
9:30–10:30 AM
Fair Trade Long Beach Retail Collective
4105 N Bellflower Blvd, Unit B

If your brain has been running twelve tabs at once, this is your off switch.

Sydney’s Soulful Soundbath is a one-hour immersive experience using crystal bowls, gongs, and other harmonic instruments to help your body actually relax—not just pretend to. It’s designed to calm your nervous system, slow everything down, and give you space to reset.

You don’t need to know anything about sound healing to attend. You just need to show up and let it happen. Space is limited, so reserving ahead is smart.

Community Vigil Honoring Lives Lost to ICE Violence

Hosted by ÓRALE LB

Saturday, January 31
4:00–6:00 PM
Bixby Park

ÓRALE LB is hosting a community vigil to honor the lives lost to ICE violence and immigration detention across the country. This gathering centers remembrance, healing, and solidarity—especially for families and communities who are directly impacted.

The vigil will include space for a healing circle, altar building, and letter writing. It’s meant to be reflective, grounded, and communal—not rushed or transactional.

For safety reasons, only battery-operated candles will be used. Please don’t bring real candles. Flowers are welcome.

If you’ve been feeling the weight of what’s happening and want to show up in a way that’s meaningful and collective, this is one way to do that.

Crash Out Queens: A Tiffany Townsend Recital

Presented by Long Beach Opera

Saturday, January 31 7:30pm

Sunday, February 1 4:00pm

Altar Society Brewing
230 Pine Ave

Long Beach Opera opens its season with a fully staged recital by soprano Tiffany Townsend that goes way beyond “stand and sing.”

Crash Out Queens explores moments in opera where women are pushed to their emotional and psychological limits. Through iconic arias, movement, scenic elements, and instrumental collaboration, Townsend reexamines these characters with a modern, empathetic lens.

It’s dramatic without being stuffy, accessible without watering anything down, and staged in a space that makes opera feel immediate instead of distant.

Acro Strip Show Presents: New Year, Same Slut

Saturday, January 31
Doors 8:30 PM | Show 9:00 PM
Executive Suite
3428 Pacific Coast Highway

This one is exactly what it sounds like—and that’s the point.

New Year, Same Slut is Acro Strip Show’s unapologetic response to the whole “new year, new you” pressure campaign. This is about staying exactly who you are, just more comfortable in it. Expect acro-based movement, strip performances, playful sensuality, and an audience that understands confidence isn’t something you suddenly decide to have on January 1st.

The space is queer- and body-positive, welcoming, and intentionally fun. Whether you come with friends, a date, or by yourself, you’ll be in good company.

21+ only. Free parking.

Free Long Beach Tai Chi for Beginners

By Sierra Holistic Collective

Sundays at 12:30 PM
Marine Stadium (grass overlooking the water)
5199 E Paoli Way

This is one of those Long Beach things that’s been quietly excellent for years.

Sierra Holistic Collective has been offering free Tai Chi classes by the water for over a decade. The class is beginner-friendly, grounded, and genuinely supportive—focused on balance, breath, mobility, and slowing your nervous system down.

No mats required. Free parking. Dress for the weather. Donations are appreciated but not expected.

If you’ve been telling yourself you need something gentler and more consistent in your routine, this is a good place to start.
