I have been drinking on 2nd Street for a long time. Since I turned 21 in this town — and maybe a little before that, but we’re not here to rat anyone out. The point is, Belmont Shore has been my neighborhood, my stomping ground, and honestly my therapy for more years than I care to count. I’ve celebrated birthdays here, cried into drinks here, made questionable decisions in alleys behind certain establishments here, and watched this little 14-block stretch grow into one of the best bar and restaurant scenes in all of Long Beach.

And happy hour in Belmont Shore? It’s a lifestyle.

Whether you’re a Shore local who knows which barstool has your name on it or you’re just discovering 2nd Street for the first time, this guide is for you. I’ve been to almost every single one of these spots — some of them more times than I can remember, a few of them more times than I should admit. From waterfront seafood and wine bars to full bars with late-night drink specials, there is genuinely something for every mood, every budget, and every level of Tuesday afternoon ambition. This is your complete guide to the best happy hour spots in Belmont Shore, where to go, when to show up, and what to order.

Let’s go.

Angel’s Share Whiskey Lounge

5110 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–6 PM | Fri–Sat 10 PM–Close $5.55 Burgers & Draft Beers | $6 Well Drinks | $5 Specialty Shots | $8.50 Margaritas | $12 Old Fashioned Full Bar

Angel’s Share is a full bar with a patio and enough whiskey to make you feel like you know what you’re talking about. Here’s my honest take: it’s hit or miss. The patio is a definite plus, the food and service are okay, but you never quite know what you’re going to get on any given visit. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s just fine. Go for the patio, go for the late-night hours, and keep your expectations pleasantly flexible.

Anna’s Pizza Joint

5351 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–5 PM Food & Drink Specials | Lunch Specials Beer & Wine

If you want to understand what Belmont Shore actually feels like — not the Instagram version, the real one — go to Anna’s. The vibe here is unbeatable. It’s chill, it’s surfer family energy, it’s a nice glass of wine and a juicy slice of pizza and maybe some wings, and it’s a place where everyone is genuinely welcome. Curtis, the owner, is on the floor hugging you, saying hi to all your friends like he’s known them his whole life. That’s not service — that’s community. Go. Bring everyone you know.

Dogz Bar & Grill

5300 2nd Street Happy Hour: Daily 3–6 PM Food & Drink Specials | Daily Food Specials Full Bar

Look. Dogz is the bar you go to when you can’t taste the difference between Kamchatka and Ketel One anymore — and you know what? It doesn’t matter, because that’s not the point. The point is you want to get your drink on in a no-judgment, no-pretense zone, and Dogz delivers every single day. Sometimes a bar doesn’t need to be complicated.

George’s Greek Café on 2nd

5316 2nd Street Happy Hour: Tues–Fri 2:30–5:30 PM Food & Drink Specials | Friday Kleftiko Dinner Special Beer & Wine

George’s has classic Mediterranean food and a genuinely chill vibe — the kind of place where you settle in, eat something warm and good, and just breathe. Not every spot on the Shore needs to be a scene, and George’s is perfectly content being exactly what it is: reliable, flavorful, and easy.

L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele Belmont Shore

4621 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 2–5 PM (Bar Area Only) $12 Cocktails, Wine & Beer | $12 Italian Bites (Meatballs, Ravioli, Pizza) Full Bar

This place has full date night and girls night energy with bohemian international pizzeria vibes that feel like they were imported directly from Naples — I swear Fabio’s grandson must be the one serving your table. L’Antica is Neapolitan pizza royalty, and the Belmont Shore location brings that same feel to 2nd Street. This is the move when you want to feel like you’re somewhere far more glamorous than you actually are, in the best possible way.

Legend’s Sports Bar

5236 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–6 PM Food & Drink Specials | Daily Specials Full Bar

Panama Joe’s and Legend’s are both Belmont Shore institutions, and I will say this plainly: if you don’t have at least one story of debauchery from one of these two places, do you even live in Long Beach? Legend’s smells like drunk Gen Xers and sticky testosterone and I mean that with complete affection. This bar has seen things. It has watched this neighborhood grow up while steadfastly refusing to do so itself. God bless it.

Let’s Yolk About It

4772 2nd Street Jolly Hour: Occasional Friday Evenings (check their Instagram @letsyolkaboutit) Food & Drink Specials Full Bar

Primarily a breakfast and brunch spot with a full bar and my sources say they host an occasional Jolly Hour on select Friday evenings. The schedule is a little loose, though, because I couldn’t find any concrete info on their IG or website, but a brunch spot that occasionally transforms into a Friday night vibe? Very Shore of them. Sometimes the best nights start somewhere completely unexpected.

Liv’s on 2nd

5327 2nd Street Social Hour: Wed–Fri 4–6 PM Oyster Mondays: 4–9 PM — Oyster & Seafood Platter Specials Beer & Wine

Oyster Mondays at Liv’s might be the most civilized way to start a week on 2nd Street. If you’re not treating yourself to oysters and a crisp glass of something cold on a Monday, I’m genuinely asking why not. The Social Hour window Wednesday through Friday is a solid bonus — but honestly, Oyster Mondays are the move.

Louie’s on 2nd

5283 2nd Street Wine Wednesdays: Every Wednesday 6–9 PM Select Bottles Half Off Full Bar

Louie’s does one thing on this list and it does it beautifully. Half-priced bottles on a Wednesday is an act of community service and Louie’s deserves a commendation. That’s the whole pitch and it needs nothing else.

Murphy’s A Pub Above

4918 2nd Street (above The Belmont Athletic Club) Daily Special: $8.50 Draft Beer + Side Order | $1.50 Upgrade to Premium Draft Trivia Night: Wednesdays at 7 PM Hall of Hops: Drink all 70+ beers and earn your spot on the wall Beer & Wine

Murphy’s is the bar you go to when your boss just handed you another assignment that your coworker couldn’t finish by deadline and you need to decompress before you say something you can’t take back. Head up the stairs, grab a draft, plant yourself on the balcony, and look out over 2nd Street until the world makes sense again. Murphy’s is the Shore’s living room and one of the best-kept secrets up there.

Natraj Indian Cuisine

5262 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 2–5 PM — 20% Off Food & Drink All-You-Can-Eat Buffet: Sat–Sun 11 AM–3 PM Beer & Wine

Twenty percent off food and drinks Monday through Friday, plus an all-you-can-eat buffet on weekends. Natraj is one of the most underrated happy hour stops on the Shore — Indian food and a cold drink before the dinner rush is one of those simple pleasures that more people should absolutely be taking advantage of.

Osaka Story

4905 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Thurs 2–5 PM Food & Drink Specials Beer & Wine

Osaka Story is one of the most underrated moves on 2nd Street — Japanese food and discounted drinks before the crowds hit. Get in early, get the good stuff, and feel very smug about your life choices for the rest of the evening.

Panama Joe’s

5100 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–7 PM — Food & Drink Specials Weekend Breakfast: Sat–Sun 9 AM–1 PM — Rise & Shine Entrée $7.99 | Bloody Hangover Bar | Bottomless Coffee $2.99 Full Bar

Panama Joe’s and Legend’s are the twin pillars of Shore mayhem and I will not hear otherwise. If you don’t have a story from one of these places, you haven’t really lived in Long Beach. I say this as someone who was personally 86’d from Panama Joe’s once — there was an incident involving a day drunk that escalated well beyond anyone’s expectations, some spirited yelling in the alley out back, and a series of life choices that I will neither confirm nor deny in writing. I have since been welcomed back. We’ve all grown.

The weekend breakfast situation — Rise & Shine entrée for $7.99, a Bloody Hangover Bar, and bottomless coffee for $2.99 — is essentially Panama Joe’s acknowledging that it helped create the problem and is now offering a solution. Respect.

Quinn’s Pub

200 Nieto Ave Happy Hour: Times TBD — check with them directly Food & Drink Specials Beer & Wine

Quinn’s is a small neighborhood bar that’s perfect for hanging with the bros and watching a game — exactly the kind of no-frills spot that every strip needs. My sources say they have a happy hour, but I couldn’t confirm the details on their Instagram, so check with them directly before you make the trip.

Rakkan Ramen

5242 2nd Street Happy Hour: Daily 2–5 PM Food & Drink Specials Beer & Wine

Rakkan has a solid selection of comfort food ramen and a genuinely chill vibe — the kind of place where you slow down, warm up, and remember that not every happy hour needs to be a loud event. Ramen and a cold drink before the dinner crowd rolls in is self-care, and I will die on that hill.

Ribbro BBQ

5295 2nd Street Happy Hour: Tues–Fri 2–5 PM Food & Drink Specials | Lunch Specials Beer & Wine

BBQ and happy hour is a pairing that deserves far more cultural recognition than it receives, and Ribbro is out here doing the work. Show up mid-afternoon for smoked meat and a cold one. Thank me later.

Riley’s on 2nd

5331 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–6 PM $9 Apps | $11 Pizzas | Cocktail, Beer & Wine Specials Full Bar

Riley’s has a fabulous front patio where you can sip your craft beer and watch the tomfoolery begin at Shannon’s next door in real time — and honestly, it’s some of the best free entertainment on 2nd. Great food, great people-watching, great patio.

Roe Seafood

5374 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–6 PM — Food & Drink Specials Martini Mondays: 6–9 PM — $10 Classic Martinis Wine & Jazz Wednesdays: 6–9 PM — Half-Priced Bottles, Free Corkage, Live Jazz Full Bar

Roe is the pretty restaurant — the one you suggest for date night or girls night when you want to feel like you made a good decision. The space is gorgeous, with an open patio that blends right into the inside so you catch the ocean breeze while you’re working on your seafood tower and a dirty Ketel One martini. You can people-watch, you can linger, you can pretend you’re somewhere with a lot more valet parking than 2nd Street actually offers, which is zero.

Saint & Second

4828 2nd Street Social Hour: Daily 3–6 PM Food & Drink Specials Full Bar

If you can snag a spot on the second floor outdoor patio at Saint & Second, you have won that round of Belmont Shore. Lovely patio, solid drinks, genuinely friendly service — this is another great date night or girls night option, the kind of place that feels special without being overly-fancy about it. Come early, grab the good seats upstairs, and stay awhile.

Shannon’s Bayshore

5335 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 12–9 PM $5 Well Drinks | $5 Beer Bottles | $1 Off Call Liquors | $5 Shoot-the-Roots Full Bar

Here’s the thing about Shannon’s — you don’t usually start your night there. Shannon’s is typically where you end up at last call, trying to find your phone that’s already in your hand, along with whatever’s left of your dignity. But happy hour until 9 PM? Nine PM? Okay Shannon’s, we see you. Maybe we actually start here and then circle back at the end of the night for a Shoot-the-Root to close it all out properly. Shannon’s is an OG and the Shore wouldn’t be the Shore without it.

Simmzy’s

5271 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–6 PM | Daily after 9 PM Small Plates, Pizzas, Tacos, Cocktails, Beer Full Bar

Simmzy’s is great when you want a burger and a beer at 5 PM and just be somewhere comfortable — no fuss, no scene, just good food and a solid drink. And then later, when you’re strolling home and the night isn’t quite over, you can stop back in for a nightcap at the quiet bar where a cute girl will make you something worth staying for on a Wednesday night. Two happy hour windows a day. Simmzy’s has always shown up and it continues to show up.

Super Mex

4711 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–6 PM | Fri–Sat 9 PM–Close Food & Drink Specials Full Bar

Super Mex has been feeding Long Beach forever and the Belmont Shore location is exactly what you need it to be — mid Mexican food, but a happy hour that catches you twice on Fridays. The Shore breeze, a chips-and-salsa situation, and a cold margarita.

Sushi AI

5260 2nd Street Happy Hour: Daily 12–6 PM 20% Off Selected Appetizers, Sushi Rolls & Drinks Beer & Wine

Daily happy hour from noon to 6 PM — six full hours, every single day. Six hours of discounted sushi is not something to overlook. Get there before the dinner rush and eat well for considerably less.

Taco Shore

5316 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon, Wed, Thurs 2–5 PM & 8 PM–Close | Fri 2–5 PM & 8:30 PM–Close | Sat 8:30 PM–Close | Sun 8 PM–Close Food & Drink Specials | Taco Tuesday | Daily Specials Full Bar

Taco Shore engineered their happy hour schedule to catch you at every possible moment — coming and going, early and late, weekday and weekend. The fact that they built in a late-night window every single day tells you exactly what kind of bar Taco Shore is, and I mean that as a compliment.

The Second Owl

5272 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Fri 3–5 PM Food & Drink Specials | $5 Sake & Beer Beer & Wine

The Second Owl keeps it focused — two clean hours, no noise about it. Sometimes the best spots on the Shore are the ones that don’t need to make a big announcement. The Second Owl has quiet confidence and that goes a long way on 2nd Street.

Viaje

5224 2nd Street Happy Hour: Mon–Thurs 4–7 PM | Fri–Sun 3–6 PM Food & Drink Specials Full Bar

Viaje runs happy hour seven days a week with a generous window on weekends that’s perfectly timed for the “we started early and we regret absolutely nothing” crowd — a crowd I have belonged to on multiple documented occasions. The name means “journey” in Spanish. Every good happy hour is one.

Zarape Cocina & Cantina

4702 2nd Street Happy Hour: Daily 2:30–6:30 PM Food & Drink Specials Full Bar

Zarape closes out the list with a daily four-hour happy hour window, seven days a week. Mexican food and cocktails with that kind of consistency is exactly the anchor a neighborhood strip needs. Zarape is a newer addition to the Shore but it’s already acting like it belongs, which is the right energy entirely.

Belmont Shore is a lot of things — beachy, walkable, a little chaotic on a Saturday night, exactly the right amount of wrong. But more than anything, it’s a neighborhood where people actually know each other. Where the owner is on the floor saying hi to your friends like family, where the bartender remembers what you drink, where the strangers at the bar next to you become part of your story whether you planned for it or not.

These 14 blocks on 2nd Street have been part of my story for a long time. I’ve watched spots come and go, watched new places earn their place on the strip, and watched the Shore keep being exactly itself through all of it. That’s not nothing. That’s actually kind of everything.

The Long Beach happy hour scene has no shortage of options, but there’s something about Belmont Shore specifically — the ocean breeze, the mix of longtime locals and fresh faces, the fact that you can walk from a wine bar to a whiskey lounge to a ramen spot without ever moving your car — that makes happy hour here feel like more than just a drink special. It’s the whole Long Beach city vibe.

So get out there. Pick a patio, find your barstool, start at Shannon’s or end at Shannon’s — honestly either works — and go make some memories on 2nd Street in Belmont Shore. Just maybe stay out of the alley behind Panama Joe’s.

Or don’t. No judgment here.

See you in the Shore.
