Tour the Shore Weekly Walking Group

Get your steps in before the holiday chaos starts. Tour the Shore is Belmont Shore’s weekly group walk — every Saturday morning, all levels and abilities welcome. Walk, skate, or wheel your way through a 2–3 mile loop that explores a different point of interest each week. Bring the kids, bring the dog, bring your enthusiasm. Subtract On The Pier 094 | KiNK (Live)

This one’s special, Long Beach. Subtract On The Pier is in its 11th — and final — season, and for the July edition they’re bringing in a true master of the craft: KiNK, live from Sofia, Bulgaria. He’s behind some of the most iconic tracks in modern house and techno, and his live sets are legendary — building and reshaping tracks in real time, no safety net, every show a one-off. Rounding out the bill: a special guest from Sublevel and Subtract’s own Anton Tumas. Eight hours of music at the end of the Belmont Pier with the ocean all around you. Tanabata Festival at the Japanese Garden at Cal State Long Beach

The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden at Cal State Long Beach hosts its annual Tanabata Festival — and it might be the most peaceful thing happening in Long Beach all weekend. Tanabata is a traditional Japanese festival honoring the star-crossed lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are said to reunite just once a year. Guests write their wishes on colorful tanzaku paper and hang them on bamboo branches in hopes their dreams come true. Expect a joyful afternoon of music, crafts, giveaways, and family-friendly activities in one of the prettiest spots in the city.
