Okay, Long Beach, I’m begging. Please, PLEASE let this be the last 90-degree weekend of the season. It is the middle of October. I would like to carve a pumpkin without its little face sliding off by Tuesday. My jack-o’-lanterns deserve to live long enough to see Halloween, and frankly, so do I.
Regardless, we’re doing Halloween in Long Beach, dammit. Saturday, Oct. 17 is basically its own mini-Halloween in the LBC. The free Shoreline Village Zombie Walk & Halloween Party has the undead shuffling along the downtown waterfront, Harvelle’s is throwing a Beetlejuice Afterlife Cabaret, Beachwood is hosting its HOWL-o-WEEN Dog Costume Contest, and the Bembridge House is wrapping up its lantern-lit haunted tours Friday and Saturday night. Want the full spooky season lineup? Check out our guide on how to celebrate Halloween in Long Beach 2026, with every event, date and address you need through Oct. 31.
Until the weather gets the memo, here’s how we’re celebrating scary season anyway. These are the events in Long Beach worth your sunscreen this weekend, from a sunrise nature walk to a midnight-adjacent Rocky Horror dance party. Hydrate accordingly.

Start your weekend slow, before the heat cranks up. Rancho Los Alamitos is hosting a guided forest bathing walk with certified Forest Therapy Guide Meghan Pinyan. It’s based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, which is a fancy way of saying you wander the Rancho’s gorgeous historic grounds very slowly, notice things with all five senses, and finally let your nervous system unclench. It wraps with tea and snacks, because healing is better with snacks.
Know before you go: The Rancho sits inside the gated Bixby Hill neighborhood, so enter at the security gate at Anaheim Road and Palo Verde Avenue. Parking on site is free. Bring a blanket, yoga mat or chair to sit on. The walk is recommended for ages 16 and up.
