Long Beach doesn’t do boring weekends, and this one is proof. Whether you’re into massive cultural celebrations, queer community vibes, a Werner Herzog doc on Retro Row, or just want to run around in a bunny costume (no judgment — full respect), the LBC has something for you. Here’s what’s popping, in order.
BÜFF Party
Friday, April 3 | 9pm–2am
Falcon North, 2020 E Artesia Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90805
Yeah yeah, technically tonight — but if you’re reading this Friday, you still have time. BÜFF is back at Falcon North for round two after a packed debut. Same sweat, same bass, even less inhibition. It runs 9pm to 2am, underwear encouraged but not required, no cameras allowed, coat check available.
This is Long Beach nightlife doing what it does best — bold, no-attitude, no-pretense energy. Get your tickets on Eventbrite before you talk yourself out of it.
Cambodia Town Parade, Culture Festival & Sankranta
Saturday, April 4 | 9am–9pm & Sunday, April 5 | 8:30am–6pm
Saturday: Parade starts at Anaheim St & Cherry Ave
Sunday: LBCC Pacific Coast Campus, 1305 E Pacific Coast Hwy
Long Beach is home to the largest Cambodian community outside of Southeast Asia, and this weekend they’re taking over — in the best way possible. Saturday kicks off at 9am with an interfaith ceremony near Anaheim and Cherry Avenue, the parade rolls at 10am heading west through the heart of Cambodia Town, and the Culture Festival takes over LBCC’s Pacific Coast Campus from noon to 9pm with live concerts, Khmer classical and folk dance, artisan crafts, food vendors, and more. This year’s theme is “Peace Through Culture: Celebrating Unity Through Diversity.”
Then Sunday, the celebration moves campuses and gets even more global. Sankranta — the Khmer New Year observance — starts with a Buddhist ceremony at 8:30am at LBCC’s Pacific Coast Campus, followed by a full day of cultural performances, music, dance, and food representing Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. Two days, two campuses, one incredibly vibrant community. Both events are free and open to all. Just go.
Bunnies on the Bay Run
Saturday, April 4 | 10am
Claremont Boat Launch, 5300 E Ocean Blvd, Belmont Shore
It’s a free 0.4-mile fun run along the bay and the only rule is that you must bring the bunny energy. Inflatable bunny costumes are highly encouraged. You waddle, sprint, or hop your way from the Claremont Boat Launch, across Ocean, onto the sand, and finish at 2nd and Bay Shore.
No timing, no winners — just big floppy ears, photo ops, and fun surprises. Zero reasons not to do this. Free and open to everyone. Click here to learn more.
Sappho Coffee Meet-Up
Saturday, April 4 | 1–3pm
Hot Java, 2101 E Broadway, Long Beach
Hey queer women, lesbians, and WLW — this monthly meetup hosted by Sappho Club by Roxy West MS is your people. It’s a free, low-key hangout for queer women who want real community, easy laughter, and new friendships without the pressure of a “scene.” No forced icebreakers, no stress — just good coffee and good conversation.
Hot Java is a beloved, LGBTQ-friendly neighborhood spot on Broadway with sidewalk seating and serious community vibes. Whether you’re new in Long Beach or just looking for your friends, show up.
Ghost Elephants
Sunday, April 5 | 11am
Art Theatre of Long Beach, 2025 E 4th St, Long Beach
Director Werner Herzog takes us to the highlands of Angola where conservation biologist Steve Boyes sets out on an epic journey searching for a mysterious, elusive herd of ghost elephants — creatures long believed to be a myth.
It’s a Sunday morning documentary screening on Retro Row. $12 general, free for Art Theatre members. Grab a coffee at one of the Retro Row spots first, then settle in and let Herzog do his thing. You won’t regret it. Click here for tickets.
That’s your weekend, LBC. Culture, community, bunnies, bass drops, and Werner Herzog. Pick one. Pick all of them. Just don’t stay home.
