Acordeones y Corridos

Six acts share one stage for a night built on accordion, bajo sexto and the corrido, the storytelling ballad that has traveled between northern Mexico and Southern California for generations.
Dueto Voces del Rancho headline. Edgar Rodríguez and Mariano Fernández met in Bell and started the duo in Los Angeles, and songs like “Se Les Peló Baltazar,” “Los Dos Amigos” and “El Diablo en una Botella” made them a fixture on regional Mexican radio. This is a hometown crowd for them.
El As de la Sierra, the Sinaloa-born José Heredia, has been a Southern California draw since “Regalo Caro” broke in the late 1990s. “Catarino y Los Rurales,” “El Muchacho Alegre” and “De Esta Sierra a la Otra Sierra” have each passed 40 million streams.
Tiranos del Norte came out of Mexicali in the late 1980s and spent the 1990s at the top of the norteño field with “Hasta la Miel Amarga,” “Hermosa Tirana,” “Creí” and “Tal Para Cual.” Theirs is the romantic side of the night.
Los Cadetes de Linares carry one of the most recognized names in corrido history, a catalog that reaches back to 1960s Linares, Nuevo León, and includes “Los Dos Amigos,” “Las Tres Tumbas” and “El Chubasco.”
Los Dinámicos del Norte have four decades and roughly 30 albums behind them, among them “La Rubia y la Morena,” “Amigos Tuve una Novia” and “Clavelito Chino Chino.”
Jorge Gamboa rounds out the bill with traditional corridos backed by tololoche, including “El Hijo Desobediente” and “La Mula Bronca.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. All ages welcome. The Terrace Theater sits on the downtown Long Beach waterfront, right off the 710, with parking on site.
